1) Healthcare Informatics & Related Terms Healthcare informatics is the study of how healthcare data, information, knowledge, and wisdom are collected, stored, processed, communicated, and used to support the process of healthcare delivery.

1) Healthcare Informatics & Related Terms 1)Data: Data are the attributes that healthcare professionals collect, organize, and name. Data elements: The individual elements in a history and physical or nursing assessment are data element. Techniques that are used to process data include: 1. Classifying. 2. Sorting. 3. Organizing. 4.Summurizing. 5. Graphing. 6. Calculating.

1) Healthcare Informatics & Related Terms 2) Information: Information is a collection of data that has been processed to produce meaning.

1) Healthcare Informatics & Related Terms 3) Knowledge: Knowledge is a collection of interrelated pieces of information and data. An organized collection of interrelated information about specific topic is usually referred to as knowledge base. knowledge base can be stored and shared using a variety of media including: 1. Oral communication. 2. Textbooks. 3. Online database.

1) Healthcare Informatics & Related Terms 4) Wisdom: Knowing when and how to use the knowledge is referred to wisdom. The development of wisdom requires: 1. Empirical Knowledge. 2. Ethical Knowledge. 3. Personal Knowledge. 4. Aesthetic Knowledge.
