Presentation transcript:

Hi my name is Gabriella Granite and I am a Igneous rock. Where I lived before I came above ground was inside a volcano. Currently, I live in India. It is a very fun place to be. The substances I am made of is melted rock form deep inside the earth. I occasionally see tourists from where I am but, I am getting worried all of my friends have been whisked away by weathering, and they haven’t come back. I think I might be next, but I like being a Igneous rock it’s so much fun.

I first was born in magma chamber. Then I was forced to an area where I could cool and form a igneous rock. I wasn’t sure how the hole rock thing would work out but it did. I made lots of friends and I had a lot of fun seeing all the different people and what their life would look like. I do have brothers and sisters. Except we were separated once we were forced through the surface of the Earth’s crust.

The process that is going to cause me to change to another type of rock is the rock cycle. I have now fallen to the bottom of the ocean and I have become a bunch of sediments. As you know before I was sediment I was a beautiful Igneous rock called Granite. When I said great pressure I was on the ocean floor then suddenly I start to feel pressure. So I waited a little while to see if it would stop but it didn’t. As the days went by I was still under great pressure then years went by and still I was under great pressure. Now millions of years have gone by and I’m now a rock and there is no more pressure. This is an ongoing process the substances in Sedimentary rock are formed from layers of sand, silt, dead plants, and animal skeletons.

Now from great heat and pressure I have become a sedimentary rock. My name is Katie Conglomerate. I was formed when tiny particles of rock soil and other substances that fell to the bottom of a gigantic river. Then I was under pressure like I told you before. Finally, I washed up on the shore and I have seen people on fairies. People looked so amazed about they actual got to come here. I next caught the name of the river that I was on the shore of. The Mississippi River. I don’t know why I was so worried about becoming a sedimentary rock. I think life is fun here at the Mississippi River. A few years pass and I now getting worried I have just settled down and I think it might be my turn again.

As I said before the process that is causing me to change from Igneous to Sedimentary and pretty soon I will be going to be changed to a Metamorphic rock is the rock cycle. It’s is the name of the process that we rocks go through. Instead of saying Igneous to Sedimentary and to Metamorphic they just say rock cycle. As I also said before it is an ongoing process. Now I am once again under great pressure on the sea floor and now I am being changed to a metamorphic rock I wonder what I will be. There is so many choices like Schist, Slate, Marble, Quartzite, and finally Gneiss. I really want to become Gneiss. Oh on here I go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fewww now I am a metamorphic rock. I just asked someone what type of rock I am and guess what they said!!! Gneiss I got my wish I became Gneiss. Now lets see. In the beginning I started out as an igneous rock called Granite, then I was whisked away by the wind which is called (weathering), and I was falling to the bottom of the Mississippi River floor and under great pressure. Now I am a metamorphic rock called Gneiss formed from being on the sea floor and being under great pressure. My new home is underground I was formed from other rocks underground by great heat and pressure. The country I now am on is Australia which is one of the seven continents. You know after what I have been through I don’t know which one I like being the best.

As I said before the ongoing process that I have been through for the 3 rd time is the ROCK CYCLE. Before I was turned into a Metamorphic rock, I was a Sedimentary rock called Conglomerate. Then I was swept away by the current and was on my way to becoming a Metamorphic rock called Gneiss. It was a lot of fun going through the rock cycle and strangely I can’t wait to go around again. Oh noooooo I’m falling to the bottom of the ocean again I have a feeling that I am not a Metamorphic rock anymore. Well at least I don’t feel any pressure. Wait I spoke to soon nooooo I’m not as young as I used to be I’m over a million years old!!!!!!!!!!

FEWWWWWWWWW. Now that I am a Sedimentary rock I need to figure out where I am and what rock I am. Hey that volcano looks very familiar. I think it’s the BARREN ISLAND VOLCANO where I was born! I wonder if my parents or siblings are still here? I’m so glad that weathering has sent me into a river and I ended up at my old home. You know it kind of feels like home here. Hey I see my friends, but they’re only a few feet away. I think I’m going to be very happy here back home.

Once again the process that caused me to change to another type of rock is THE NEVER ENDING ROCK CYCLE!!!!!!! The weathering whisked me away and I fell into a river and was under pressure for millions of years and got washed up on the shore on the Barren Island Volcanoes shore. I wonder if I will go around again? Well if do I wonder what I would become.
