The Habits: An Overview Be Proactive Begin with the End in Mind Put First Things First Think Win-Win Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood Synergize Sharpen the Saw

Be Proactive Be responsible Take initiative Choose actions, attitudes, and moods wisely Do not blame others for your wrongs Do the right thing without being asked

Being with the End in Mind Plan ahead Set goals Do things with meaning and purpose Play an important part of your classroom Have a mission and a vision of where you want to be Be a good citizen

Put First Things First Spend time on things that matter Say no to things you know you should not do Set priorities Make schedules Follow a plan Be disciplined and organized

Think Win-Win Balance courage for getting what you want with consideration for what others want Make deposits in others’ Emotional Bank Accounts Look for alternatives when conflicts arise

Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood Listen to other people’s ideas and feelings Try to see others’ viewpoints Listen without interrupting Be confident in voicing your ideas Look at people in the eye when talking

Synergize Value people’s strengths and learn from them Get along with others Work well in groups See others’ ideas and use them to solve problems Know that by teaming together, you can have a better solution than alone Be humble
