Continue... When Ellie knew a day to be Friday starts out sounding like Monday, something must be wrong somewhere she thought it must be the school holidays bored out of her brains. So she adventured out into the windy weather, the sound of the trees were echoing like a loud whistle constantly around her upsetting the native wildlife nesting in the trees above her. The tint of freshness overtook her as she wondered through the rough leaves scattered across the rainforest floor.

Ellie is a quiet person who normally sits in her room. She has blonde hair cut in long layers curled around her shoulders. Most people say that her style is too sophisticated for her round monkey like cheeks and acne dotted nose, but Ellie doesn’t really care what other people think of her. Continue.....

For Ellie being in a rainforest is a very rare place to be. She enjoys debating for her rights and the rights of others. As she went further into the vast untrudden rainforest the path she was following ended, actually there were two paths left or right. Take the Left path Take the right path

Take the left path: Ellie decided to take the left path in previous experiences it had worked for her and she felt lucky. The path seemed a bit different than usual there were no birds the only thing she could hear was the chainsaw or what she thought was a chainsaw. Then suddenly the path she was following ended she looked to the left and she saw the end of the other path she realised it was really the end of the right path. Continue....

Take the right path: Ellie decided to take the right path because she felt like a change she always took the left path and now she decided to take the right one. The path was very similar to the left one it seemed like it was exactly the same. The bushes were very similar Ellie had memorised the trees from the left path it went.... Kowhai, Kauri, Pohutikawa then Rimu, it was a sequence repeated where as on the right path it went Kauri, Kowhai, Rimu then pohutikawa, there was only one thing she didn’t know, where the right path ended she thought it was the other side of the forest but she still wasn’t sure. Suddenly the noises of the rainforest were very unusual it was kind of like a chainsaw as she followed the noise it seemed to get louder and louder then she came to a stop when the path she was following actually ended. Ellie looked to the left and realised that the end of the left path ended at the same place. Continue

Then Ellie looked forward she was astonished at what she saw, she could see everything, everything she saw she hated there were people cutting down trees everywhere, much to Ellies disgust when she tried to talk to them they said she was a young girl and that her thoughts didn’t matter, they told her they were just doing what the government had told them to do. What the workers didn’t know was that she wasn’t about to give up. She was a natural at this she ran home and started writing a letter to the government it said.... I know you must think I am a useless teenager but I have something that really bugs me it’s about the rainforest I live near Continue

Five days past and she got a letter from the government it said.... Thank you for your letter to make sure it reaches the prime minister rewrite your letter and send it to..... Office Parliament, Wellington or we advise you to discard your letter. Thanks. Re-write the letter to the Prime Minister... Don’t Re-write the letter to the Prime Minister...

Re- write the letter : She decided to re-write the letter and send it off to parliament. She waited patiently for the net seven days, each day running out to the letterbox to check if there was a letter addresses to her, on the seventh day there was, she carefully opened the letter trying not to rip the precious information as she unfolded it she felt a rush of nerves go through her body. The letter said... Dear Ellie... Thank you very much for your letter we have considered it and have decided to stop cutting down the trees at that site. We are currently going over the situation and let you know the result. Thanks Parliament Office. She was so happy it had proved to her that if you try hard enough and stick to your rights and opinions people will listen to you. BACK TO HOME PAGE

Don’t Re-write the letter: Ellie decided that the government wouldn’t listen to her although she strongly believed what she had seen was wrong. She revisited the work site to see what had happened throughout the week. She could tell more trees had been cut down and it was looking barer than ever, she was disappointed, but thought she had made the right decision. BACK TO HOME PAGE
