DOGMA & DOCTRINE  DOGMA : FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS/BELIEFS OF THE FAITH REVEALED BY GOD THROUGH A) INSPIRED SCRITPURE & B) THE HISTORICAL JESUS’ TEACHING.  DOCTRINE: ANY TEACHING OF THE CHURCH REGARDING REVEALED TRUTHS (DOGMA).

CATHOLIC LITERALLY MEANING **UNIVERSAL** IN AT LEAST A FEW SENSES: A) FULLNESS OF CHRIST’S TEACHING PRESENT… B) EVERYTHING PRESENTT HAT IS NEEDED FOR SALVATION… C) SENT TO THE WHOLE WORLD TO LOVE ETC… D) INVITATION TO ALL TO JOIN…

COMMANDMENT A NORM OF MORAL ACTION! THE COMMANDMENTS ARE GUIDELINES USED TO BASE ONES ETHIC OR APPROACH TO LIFE ON AS WE MOVE TOWARDS DOING GOD’S WILL/ “THE GOOD.”

CONVERSION A REORIENTATION AWAY FROM SIN AND TOWARD THE WILL OF GOD!  CONSISTENT RE-COMMITTING TO DOING THE WILL OF GOD IN OUR LIFE RATHER THAN STRAYING FROM GOD’S WILL!

RESURRECTION THE CROWNING TRUTH OF OUR FAITH IN CHRIST IN THAT IT VALIDATED WHAT HE TAUGHT (INCLUDING HIS DIVINITY) DURING HIS LIFETIME!

INCARNATION GOD ASSUMING HUMAN NATURE! GOD BECOMING MAN (IN THE FLESH) IN THE PERSON OF JESUS IN ORDER TO OFFER US A PATH TO SALVATION!

CHURCH A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WHO ATTEMPT TO REFLECT CHRIST AND HIS TEACHING. THREE INSEPARABLE MEANINGS OF CHURCH: A) A PARTICULAR ASSEMBLY OF “CHURCH”! B) LOCAL CHURCH COMMUNITY, “DIOCESE”! C) THE WORLDWIDE CHURCH COMMUNITY: CATHOLICS AS A WHOLE ACROSS BOARDERS (AMERICA/EUROPE/AFRICA ETC…) THESE THREE MEANINGS OF CHURCH MUST BE UNDERSTOOD TOGETHER IF ONE IS TO CAPTURE THE FULL MEANING OF “CHURCH!”

TRINITY THE CHRISTIAN UNDERSTANDING OF GOD. ONE GOD IN THREE PERSONS: 1) FATHER 2) SON 3) HOLY SPIRIT TRINITY ASSERTS THAT THE DIVINE IS ONE AS SEEN IN THREE PERSONS, EACH REFLECTING ELEMENTS OF THE SAME DIVINE!

SACRAMENT & LITURGY  “SACRAMENT” = GIFT OF GOD THE FATHER TO HUMANITY, INSTITUTED BY JESUS, ENTRUSTED TO THE CHURCH THROUGH THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.  “LITURGY” = ORIGINAL MEANING REFERS TO ANY PUBLIC WORK/SERVICE OF THE PEOPLE.  TODAY “LITURGY” REFERS TO ANY WORSHIP SERVICE IN COMMUNITY WHICH FOCUSES ON RECOGNITION OF GOD’S PRESENCE AT WORK ON OUR LIFE.  EX: LITURGY OF THE MASS!
