The National Freight Task This trend is expected to continue at a growing rate over the next 40 years

Infrastructure Australia A 1% improvement in efficiency will yield a $2 billion-a-year benefit ALC strongly supports Infrastructure Australia National Infrastructure Audit findings: – Without action, Australia’s productivity and quality of life will be tested – Greater integration is called for between infrastructure and land-use planning – Encouragement of improvements in long-term infrastructure planning, project appraisal and selection

ALC Supports the concept of Asset Recycling Selling or leasing public assets is an effective way to unlock funds to invest in new logistics infrastructure ALC is working with governments to ensure infrastructure users are treated fairly after leases / privatisations

Global Infrastructure Hub A key mechanism for delivering the Global Infrastructure Initiative Five key work themes: – Developing a knowledge-sharing network – Addressing key data gaps that matter to investors – Giving substance to the leading practice on prioritising, planning, approval and delivery of infrastructure projects – Building the capacity of government officials to improve institutional arrangements – Developing a consolidated database of infrastructure projects

Asian Infrastructure Bank The Australian Government will become a founding member Aims to bring best practice for the delivery of infrastructure to the entire region A catalyst for private sector investment and will co-finance projects with other development banks The Infrastructure Bank will improve the delivery and financing of critical infrastructure that will benefit Australia and the entire region

Conclusion Progressing the future of trade logistics in our region must be supported by: – smooth and efficient supply chains, and; – appropriate financial mechanisms to facilitate investment in infrastructure
