Presentation transcript:

 Tornadoes are cyclones that form when hot and cold air is mix together. First hot air and cold air mix together, which causes a big storm or a funnel cloud. Eventually the tornado forms if there is enough power.

 The hot and cold air get mixed together to form a funnel. Since the hot and cold air mixes there would be different wind speeds at different heights. There usually has to be a super cell to form a tornado.

 Tornadoes in the United States usually happen at tornado alley. Tornado alley includes 11 states. The states are Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.

 Tornadoes often happen in the spring and summer. About 1000 tornadoes occur every year.  Here is a bar model on how often Tornadoes occur  Tornadoes for 2011

Before the tornado there’s green sky and it’s vary windy. During the tornado there might be debris flying and the sky might be vary dark. The tornado can be vary small to 1 kilometer wide. After the tornado there might be no damage to almost everything gone.

 The tornado can be 1 kilometer wide. The whole city can be destroyed. The wind can go up to 300 mph sometimes. 

 Cities can get destroyed and trees can fall which kills trees. They can destroy crops and house. They can even kill animals.

 There could be a lot of damage. Trees and buildings might get devastated like houses falling down or trees getting torn apart. Whatever gets in the way of the tornado would not survive.

 Tornadoes: Form over land  Dust Devils  Water Spouts: Over Water

 Dust devils are tornadoes that form over deserts. Dust devils spin at a rate of 45 mphs.

 Water spouts are tornadoes the form over water. Instead of spinning wind they spin water and sometimes fish.
