The United Methodist Church in Action Regional: Sandy Recovery Global: Imagine No Malaria Local: Mission Project

Jeremiah 29:11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Superstorm Sandy Recovery 161,000 people were displaced by Superstorm Sandy Nearly one year later, an estimated 20,000 families have not been able to return to their homes

Together we are making a difference. We started rebuilding in March and as of September 1, 2013, A Future with Hope has: Put 9 families back into their homes Started construction on an additional 20 homes Hosted more than 3,000 volunteers from 21 states Worked with more than 150 families who need help rebuilding their lives and homes

The United Methodist Church can make a difference. 2008: One death every 30 seconds 1.2 million people 85% children & pregnant women 2013: One death every 60 seconds 650,000 people 85% children & pregnant women

Together we are making a difference. 300 active health care facilities 5800 trained and effective health care workers

Malaria is: Preventable Treatable Beatable No more deaths from malaria by 2015!

The United Methodist Church can make a difference. “ Local church mission is the foundation of a vital congregation.” Bishop John Schol Local ministries build up the community of faith and transform lives and social conditions in the community and the world.

Together we are making a difference. 25% of all funds raised stay in the local church for mission. Churches can decide how to use their mission funds: Food distribution Child care Prison programs Local churches know best how to meet the needs in their communities.

No one congregation can do all these ministries, but together we make a difference. $7,000,000 Sandy Recovery $2,000,000 Imagine NO Malaria $3,000,000 Church Mission $12,000,000 Goal
