Scripture Reading: Mt 11:28-30
The Bible is full of invitations This evening I want to look at the invitation in Mt 11:28-30 “ 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
All who will accept Mt 11:28 “…all you who labor and are heavy laden,…” Jn 3:16 “…whoever believes in Him” 2 Pet 3:9 “…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
The rich young man (Mt 19:16-22; Mk 10:17-22) Mt 19:16 “…Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” Mt 19:17 “ 17 So He said to him,… if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Mt 19:20 “ 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” Mt 19:21 “ 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Mt 19:22 “…he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.”
King Agrippa (Acts 26:19-32) Acts 26:27 “King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.” Acts 26:28 “Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” The Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40) Acts 8:36 “Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” Acts 8:37 “Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may…” Acts 8:38 “So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him”
The example on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) Acts 2:40 “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Acts 2:41 “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” The Ethiopian Eunuch (8:26-40) Requested to be baptized as soon as he found water (Acts 8:36)
Philippian Jailer (Acts 16:25-40) Acts 16:32 “Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.” Acts 16:33 “And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.”
All will be judged then told where to spend eternity Heb 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,” Heaven Mt 7:14 “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Mt 25:34 “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” Hell Mt 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.” Mt 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:”
