2. The Word - Baptism Baptism was in use in the 1100’s as an English word. It came from old French. Most Bible translators have not wanted to translate the word – it would harm sales among those who practice sprinkling Most chose to use the transliterated form of the word by giving the Greek word an English spelling rather than translate the Greek word Thus the Greek word “baptisma” became the English word “baptism”

6. It is all Greek For the purpose of the rest of the discussion it will be noted that the mode of baptism is in the definition of full water immersion. The Greek word “baptidzo” means to immerse, dip, or bury in water. The very Greek word itself excludes it from meaning “sprinkling” or “pouring” or any other attempt to distort the meaning.

NT Passages Matthew 28:18-20 - Matthew 28:18-20 - 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

NT Passages John 3:3-5 - 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

NT Passages Acts 8:34-39 - Acts 8:34-39 - 34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

NT Passages Acts 8:34-39 - Acts 8:34-39 - 37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.

Titus 3:5 - Titus 3:5 - not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

18. NT Passages 1 Peter 3:21 - 1 Peter 3:21 - There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
