The Catcher in the Rye By Tejas Joshi

Timetable A collection of events that created the person we know today as Holden Caufield

Allie’s Death First event really effects The life oh Holden

Getting Kicked out of 2 Prep schools He’s really beginning to get out of it He beginning not to care

Loses his foilson the subway, and his team can’t play and is disqualified He is really saddened by this. This event leads him to buying the red hunting hat.

Getiing Kicked out Pency Prep He doesn’t seem to care, or doesn’t want to give and put any effort in.

Has a discussion with Mr. Spencer The conversation itself is meaning but Holden is to immature to get what Mr. Spencer is tying to tell him. He even says life is a game which should be played according to the rule. But holden is trying to change the game itself and society will not let him.

Gets into fight with Stradlater He doesn’t seem to care about getting hurt. His mental breakdown is beginning to occur. Doesn’t even wipe the blood off of his face.

He leaves Pency His last words are “Sleep Tight Ya Morons”

Boards train and meets Mrs. Morrow He tries to protect her from telling her the true identity and bad natures of her son that’s a jerk.

Gets off Train and catches Cab In the cab during the ride he manages to ask the driver where the ducks from Central Park go in the winter. He doesn’t get a reply and is left with no answer.

Checks into the Hotel and then calls Faith Cavendish This shows Holden is really wanting a connection. He is really hoping to get some instant satisfaction. She turns doen his offer for the night but then he regrets saying no to having drinks the next day.

He decides to grab another cab to Ernie’s He again asks the driver where the ducks go in the winter from Central Park and he actually gets and answer but the driver gets to emotional about it and Holden gets even more depresses and his question is still unanswered.

Holden calls up for Sunny This show how dspereate Holden is getting. He isn’t even getting that desperate about having sex but about getting that mental connection. He can’t go though with it at the end.

Standing Up for the 5 Dollars He stands up for only five dollars to Maurice a big guy who knocks him right over. A guy who wouldn’t even fight from 20$ doesn’t care about getting hurt and so he stands up.

Meets the nuns and gives them ten dollars Shows how Holden also has a good side a happy side. He see those nuns as innocent people he actually has a good conversation with the nun that teachers English. He does this because they protect innocence and so do they.

Going out with Sally Hayes Sally is hot but not Holden’s type. He knoews this but still feels like he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He is totally attracted to her.. He still ends up calling her a pain in the ASS

Invites Carl Luce to the Wicker Bar Despite his blow-up with Sally, Holden's still in search of some human companionship. He calls Jane, but doesn't get an answer, then he calls Carl Luce. Carl tries to have a good conversation but Holden is to immature and so Carl leaves,

Goes to Central Park He leaves the bar and heads in the direction of Central Park, to investigate the lagoon for traces of the ducks. He drops Phoebe's record on the way, breaking it into a bunch of tiny pieces. The pond is partly frozen, and although Holden does a thorough investigation, nearly falling into the water a few times, there are no ducks to be found. lagoon Phoebe's record

Goes home to visit Phoebe he makes it up to his parents' apartment without attracting too much attention. Holden finally wakes Phoebe up, she's obviously thrilled to see him. She chatters about the Christmas play she's going to be in. she gets around to asking why Holden's home on Saturday and realizes he's obviously gotten kicked out of school again.

Has a good conversation with Phoebe This conversation even though Phoebe was ignoring the fact or just not noticing that Holden was reaching for a connection. She gives him good advice. He evens says that if possible he wanted to be a Catcher in the Rye.

Give Phoebe his Hunting Hat Holden is at a really down point. He gives phoebe the hunting hat so it will protect her as it did him because he doesn’t care for himself anymore.

Goes to Mr. Antolini’s House He really liked Mr. Antolini, He was his favorite English teacher. It’s a good thing he goes because Mr. Antolini is worried for Holden and gives Holden a bunch of advice. Very good advice.

Wipes of “F U” This shows how Holden is really trying to preserver the innocence of the people. He even makes that comment of being able to freeze moments in time. After seeing that profanity written the 3 rd time I think Holden realizes that he really can’t don’t much about. He can’t change the whole world. I think this was sort of his beginning of understanding.

Up at the Mental Hospital This is where he ends up after talking to his sister and deciding not to go west. This is also after seeing her sister on the carrousel and this makes him come to a new conclusion about innocence and childhood. And he signs off and the last place he’s at is the Mental Hospital.
