O bjective: I can use a double entry journal to enhance my understanding of text. Wa rm Up (in your composition book) C opy today's date and the objective into your comp book. Go to the next clean sheet in your comp book, and make three columns (for vocabulary) and label the columns ROOT, WORD, DEFINITION

Today we will be reading a short story called The Fun They Had. We will then respond to this text using a double entry journal.

Double entry journal A double entry journal is a way for you to interact with the text by selecting important passages and responding to them in one of several different ways.

Evaluate - make a judgment about what the author is trying to say

Predict - anticipate what will occur based on what's in the passage

Clarify - answer earlier questions or confirm / disaffirm earlier predictions

Question - ask about something in the passage that is unclear and offer your perpective on it
