The Historical Books: 1. The Gospels:

1) Matthew – Jesus is presented as the Son of David, emphasizing His Kingship, written for the Jews. Cf. Isa 11:1; Mat 1:1.

2) Mark – Jesus is presented as the Son of Man, emphasizing His Servant hood, written for the Romans. Cf. Zech 3:8; Mark 8:38.

3) Luke – Jesus is presented as the Son of Adam, emphasizing Him as the Son of Man, written for the pagan Gentiles. Cf. Zech 6:12-13; Luke 3:38.

4) John – Jesus is presented as the Son of God, emphasizing His Deity, written for Christians. Cf. Isa 4:2; 7:14; John 3:16.
