Time Mastery Profile ® The profile is organized into 12 categories of time mastery Model  Attitudes  Goals  Priorities  Analyzing  Planning  Scheduling  Interruptions  Meetings  Written Communications  Delegation  Procrastination  Team Time

Attitudes “Our ability to control our time is related to our attitude toward controlling our environment.” Having a positive attitude about your ability to control and manage your own time

Goals “Well-developed goals are SMART.” Setting short- and long-term goals and staying the course for achieving them

Priorities “You may be surprised at how reasonable people can be when you turn down their requests.” Focusing on the most important tasks and activities rather than being driven by the urgencies of the day

Analyzing “Time Masters recognize the value of exploring options and opportunities to analyze and improve their time habits.” Analyzing time spent on projects and tasks to understand if your time is being used most effectively

Planning “Planning is an attempt to control as much of our time as possible, while still considering there are things out of our control.” Writing daily, weekly, and/or monthly to-do lists

Scheduling “Things that are scheduled tend to happen on time. Things that are not scheduled may never happen.” Making the time commitments necessary to getting work done

Interruptions “Scheduling quiet time is often an effective way to get things accomplished.” Managing interruptions and minimizing those that are not urgent or necessary

Meetings “Although meetings are notorious time-wasters, they are also easy to control.” Making sure meetings are on time, have well-prepared agendas and clear objectives, and are truly necessary

Written Communications “There are only four things you can do with a document: dump it, delegate it, do it, or delay it.” Following a system for handling paper and electronic communication so that it doesn’t overwhelm you

Delegation “Delegation is sharing responsibility and authority with others.” Handing off work to another person who has the proper authority and skill to execute the task

Procrastination “Changing your do-it- later urge into a do-it- now habit requires positive action.” Tackling tasks that are unpleasant or difficult first rather than putting them off

Team Time “Communicate with your team regularly to ensure everyone knows the team’s goals and priorities.” Managing your time as an individual so that you are saving time for the people you work with
