Will the Real Jesus… …Please Stand Up?

Who Is Jesus? Christians claim to follow Jesus, but who is Jesus (Mt. 21:10; Lk. 7:49; Jn. 12:34)? Many in his day asked the same question (Mt. 13:54-58; 16:13-17; Jn. 7:40-44) Who are we going to ask? Where will we go for the answer? The Bible or somewhere else?

Who Is Jesus? The Son of God Angels (Lk. 1:35) John the Baptist (Jn. 1:34) The Father (Mt. 3:17; 17:5) Peter and the apostles (Mt. 14:33; 16:16) Demons (Mt. 8:29) Jesus (Jn. 10:36) The multitudes (Mt. 27:54; Jn. 1:49; 11:27) Paul (Acts 9:20)

Ask the Modern Person Jesus was a great Jewish teacher; he was a good man; he was appealing and motivational; but, he was disillusioned, misguided, and deceived; he met an unfortunate death Jesus was more than just a great teacher (Mt. 7:29; Jn. 14:6-9)

Ask the World-Religion Person Jesus was a teacher who founded a major religion; he is on par with Buddha, Confucius, Mohammed Jesus was very much unlike other men who founded a religion; he was sinless (Jn. 8:46; 18:38); he worked miracles to prove his claims to deity (Jn. 5:36; 20:30-31); he was raised from the dead (Rom. 1:4)

Ask the Antagonist Person Jesus was a person who must be rejected at all cost; he is our enemy; let’s get rid of him Jesus was not rejected because he did anything wrong; he was rejected because he exposed the wrong in others (Jn. 3:20; 9:41; 15:22-24)

Ask the “Christian” Person Jesus was and is the Son of God; he died on the cross for our sins; he wants us to be religious and go to church Jesus wants more for us than just being religious or going to church (Mt. 7:21-23; 15:8-9; Jn. 4:24; 6:46)

Ask the Emotional Person Jesus was a man of love and forgiveness; going to church is not important; correct doctrine is not important Jesus’ love did not overlook wrong-doing; Jesus wants us to be a part of his church; he died for it; Jesus wants us to follow his commandments (Mt. 16:18; Mk. 10:29; Jn. 14:1-2, 15, 21-24)

Ask the Broad-minded Person Jesus was a man who accepted all people; he did not condemn; he did not judge Jesus is a man who condemned sin (Mt. 7:1-5; 23:1ff; Mk. 3:5; Lk. 11; Jn. 5:14; 8:11)

The Six Blind Men and the Elephant… …Who Is Jesus?

Who Is Jesus? We have to do something with Jesus; we cannot just ignore the question (Mt. 27:22) How we answer the question will determine our eternal destiny (Jn. 8:24) Will the real Jesus please stand up?
