The Specification Subject: Biology Topic : Nutrition In Plants Specific area : Photosynthesis Target learners : Sec 3 Express Specific Instructional Objectives (SIOs) State the equation for photosynthesis Describe the process of photosynthesis in plants State that chlorophyll traps light and converts it into chemical energy for the formation of carbohydrates and their subsequent storage Briefly explain why most forms of life are completely dependent on photosynthesis

The approach/approaches for learning (methods) oKnowledge Building is the creation and continual improvement of ideas that contribute to the learning community. Knowledge Building advocates pupils to develop a communal collective responsibility to creatively work with ideas, evaluate and synthesize the diversity of ideas among peers. oAnchored Instruction - Learning is tied to a natural and realistic activity, context and culture. Hence, a case study or problem is established to provide the anchor or focal point of the learning activity. It aims to create a learning community among the pupils.

The components to help achieving learning oWeb tool : Web 2.0 oWidgets: youtube, thinkfree oEasy of use – usability issues oYoutube oThinkfree has a workspace which can be used by anyone who works in a group ( companies, schools, organizations ). Here they can do collaborative work ( project management, sharing informations including materials, lectures and classes)

The strategies (steps to go about doing things) used in the approaches oMode of delivery - blended oThe procedures for learning and the instructions for the procedures oThe students will be given a task to find out how they can convince an alien invader not to deprive the world with sunlight as it is important in the process of photosynthesis. oUsing a Web quest, they are going to the search the web of informations about photosynthesis and make a creative blog that can convince the alien invader to stop the deprivation of light and thus preserving the life of people on earth. oThe students will write their blogs and send it to the teacher in Bblogger.

Scaffolding blogs A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is Website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. worksheets. The material can be used as a supplementary resource or as a stand-alone teaching video clips provide a best fit to the characteristics of this Net Generation of students and a valid approach to tap their multiple intelligences and learning styles.

Web Quest A WebQuest is a learning activity used by educators. During this activity learners read, analyze, and synthesize information using the World Wide Web. It is "an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the internet, optionally supplemented with videoconferencing" World Wide Web

The Assembly oIntegrate the above to form an artifact for delivery: oIntroduction ( 10 min) oLesson Development : Using Video and web articles for the students to read ( 20 min ) oGroup creation of blogs ( 40 min ) oClosure / Summarization of the Lesson ( 10 min )
