 Students will solve polynomial equations that are found in the real world.  How do the solutions to the polynomials relate to the real world situation?

-First built in 966 (over 1000 years ago) -Held off a siege for 30 years during the 100 Year War -Connected to mainland via natural bridge that was covered by high tide most of the time before modern technology

 Read the question (without trying to solve anything!)  Mark important information (highlight, underline, circle, etc.)  Define your variables, if needed  Draw a picture to help you visualize!  Write your equation, if needed  Solve the equation for each variable  Answer the question.  Reread the question to make sure you have answered it.

 The average price of a gallon of gas at the beginning of each month from November 2010 to May 2011 are given by the table. The data is plotted in Figure 5.18 and are fitted with the following polynomial, where t is the number of months that have passed since October 2010.

Dustin is creating a garden in his backyard. Dustin wants the length of his garden bed to be seven yards more than twice the width of the bed.
