Hallowed Be Your Name – The Holiness of the Father John 17: 1-26

Holiness of the Father – John 17 No other gospel records this amazing prayer! John happened in upper room. John happened along way to ‘Gethsemane’ Different accounts= different views of mountain. Theme of prayer is glory – thru Jesus obedience. Jesus ‘revealed’ the Father’s name to believers. V. 11 has only reference to ‘Holy Father’. Holiness is an attribute of God – always had it! Intimacy – ‘the Word was face-to-face with God’ “What was God doing before creation?” Enjoying intimate loving relationship!

Holiness of the Father – John 17 Holy Father is display of intimate love of God. The Holy Church meant to enjoy such love. Before the throne Holy Father and Son will share their love with us. It cost Jesus everything to say “Holy Father” Our Unity is like that of Father and Son. It is Jesus JOY to unite us with them. Jesus very concerned to protect us from evil one. We are protected by the Word of God! Our unity will bring others to faith and unity. We are to reflect the Holy Father’s love!

Holiness of the Father – John 17 Jesus asks for the Holy Father to live in us. The Father has done it through the Holy Spirit. We are then filled with His Love and unity. Jesus didn’t stop praying for us that night… he continues to pray for us at all times. May we follow and obey our Holy Lord to be His Holy People!
