PREPARING FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

1. Where/why are you traveling? 2. Do you need a visa? 3. Have you registered your travel? 4. Does your medical insurance cover you internationally? 5. Have you informed your financial institutions of your travel? 2 Vanderbilt International Office

5  International SOS  What it is: emergency evacuation and repatriation for VU students, staff and faculty traveling on a VU-sponsored program  What it is NOT: medical insurance  All international travelers (on behalf of VU) should register their trip in ISOS register their trip in ISOS  Travelers can review information on safety and security, health issues, medical care and vaccination requirements  In the event of an emergency, traveler should contact ISOS call center

Insurance can be purchased by the week (minimum 2 weeks) or the month HTH World wide  Information available at our Global Education Office (study abroad) –

7 Vanderbilt International Office  Notify banks & credit card companies of your travel plans (location and length of stay)  Make photocopies of all cards (front and back) and know the numbers to call if lost/stolen  Check to see if your bank has an affiliate abroad to save you money on network fees  Know your network (Cirrus, Star, Plus, etc.)
