 Digestion-breaks down food into molecules that the body can use.  Absorption-nutrients pass through the lining of your digestive system into your blood.  Elimination-discharges waste matter. Functions of the Digestive System

 Consume plenty of fiber.  Limit fatty foods.  Eat moderately.  Plan meals for a time when you can relax.  Drink lots of water.  Get regular exercise. Avoiding Digestive Disorders

 Appendicitis is cause by microorganisms infect the appendix (a small pouch that projects from the colon).  Colon cancer is uncontrolled cell division that leads to a cancerous tumor in your large intestine.  Heartburn is caused when acid from the stomach irritates the esophagus.
