Backing up By Betsy Weaver 8H

What is backup, and why should you do it? w So that you don’t lose all your files if you are attacked by a virus or hackers, you need to back them up. w You don’t want to lose you music or homework, so you need to have an extra copy, or backup, just incase.

What can your files be backed up to? w An external hard drive, like a memory stick. w Send them to another computer w Copy them onto a CD or disk and keep them. This is especially good if you need to backup music. Make sure that you get the disk - you don’t want to get one that won’t store your data

Where can you keep backups? w You have your backed up data - now where do you put it? w In a safe / fire proof box, incase it gets burnt in your home w Putting multiple copies in different buildings, like your school w Uploading them to another computer

How can you keep backups secure w Make sure that don’t backup any viruses with your data! w Don’t backup all your data on your computer every time you backup - just backup the things you have changed or added

Backing up to a memory stick w Step 1 - This what is in my memory stick. Plug in your memory stick

Backing up to a memory stick w Step 2 - Save the file to your memory stick. Go on save as... And save it onto it

Backing up to a memory stick Step 3 - Now look at the files on your memory stick - the file should be on there
