Master of Science, Said BS “offers students the unique opportunity to engage with internationally renowned social scientists in exploring the practice and process of business management” “one-year programme open to top class graduates in any discipline who wish to study a range of contemporary theoretical and empirical perspectives on organisational management with both global and local settings” “the aim of the programme is to provide the basis for professional careers in social research and, in particular, to provide suitable preparation for access to doctoral programmes in leading universities across the world”

MSc in Management Research Students attend lectures, classes and tutorials for a total of three terms Are introduced to key ideas in management research and research methodologies Choose one of two possible advanced research methods options Follow two electives in specialist subjects of their choice from the offerings provided Write a 15,000-word research dissertation using empirical or secondary data in a field of management research.

Learning Support and guidance by academic and college advisors. From Hilary term onwards the academic advisor is also the supervisor of the research dissertation. Learning outcomes: Substantive knowledge of the key concepts within management and organisation theory Substantive knowledge in up to two specialist areas Comprehensive knowledge of research skills and techniques Ability to compare and contrast the relative merits of a range of theoretical and methodological perspectives Ability to identify a research question, write a proposal, investigate this using the appropriate tools and present the results in an academic format for peer review

Michaelmas Term (8 weeks) October 1 – December 17 Induction Research Methodology Advanced Organisational Analysis Economics of Organisations Define a research question

Hillary Term (January 7 - March 25) Advanced Research Methods (qualitative or quantitative – choice of the student, paper as an examination) Elective: Advanced Organisational Theory Advanced Marketing Science and Technology Present the research proposal and submit literature review by week 8

Trinity Term (April 21 – July 6) Elective: - Organisational Behaviour - Marketing - Science and Technology Studies - Strategy and Entrepreneurship - International Business - Operations Management - Epistemology of Accounting ! Submit dissertation (15, 000 words) by August
