Not a residential property A rational explanation of why to let it be

A little history… Cloyd Dairy entered an agreement with Orange County in 1964 to establish a portion of the land as a public landfill.

Examples of Household Waste from 1964: Cloyd Dairy = Public Landfill The family would dig UNLINED pits across the pasture… and allow anyone to come in to dump household waste.

Sanctioned Dumping? While Orange County did allow some of this from , when one pit would fill, another would be dug. And Another… And it wasn’t in only designated areas.

Where did the waste go?

It’s all still there. Just below the cows.

Although the arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium, iron, manganese, phtalates, benzene, and other volatile compounds are below the surface, wildlife is prevalent.

Would you want to live in a house built on contaminated land? In 2008, the county decided that this land was not appropriate for OCPS. Good enough for homes, but not for OCPS?

If allowed… As soon as ground is broken, there is a chance that all of our neighborhood can be affected. Many of the compound found in this ground are considered carcinogens and can cause pulmonary, liver, and kidney diseases. Simply digging up the ground can cause these chemicals to be released from the ground and be inhaled. If a pocket is hit, chemicals can be rapidly released into the surrounding water table.

What about the traffic? 150 homes = 300 cars

Not good for our community Bad for our health Bad for the wildlife Bad for our traffic problems

Vote NO for rezoning to residential It’s the right thing for our community.
