Children’s Garden Family/Community Night August 16, 2007

On August 16, 2007, the HSBC Children’s Garden had a lovely evening activity, starting off with a pot luck dinner at 6PM.

About 15 children and 15 parents attended, bringing dishes representing their cultures to share with others.

After the meal, the children went outside to explore the Garden at night, including a game where they discovered their ability to use their ears to find their food by imitating bats and moths. As it turned darker, we learned about building a fire and fire safety, followed by our own campfire.

As the fire grew, we heard a Native American story about how a hummingbird got his colors. Then, we roasted marshmallows, melted chocolate and made delicious s’mores treats for all to enjoy!
