Come to the Table Luke 13:31-35

Do you have a place at the Table? Last Week Luke 13:22-30 Parable concerning who will enter the Kingdom of God. Today Luke 13:31-35 Reality the Parable Illustrates.

Luke 13:31 31 At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.”

Luke 13: And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’

Luke 13:34 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Not willing to enter through narrow door.

Why do people refuse to enter? Many assume they are in already. Jn 8:33 Many looking for another way. Jn 5:39-40 Many want saved from circumstances but not their sin. Many angered by Jesus claims. Jn 8:32-59 Some (few) don’t believe a table exists.

Luke 13:35 35 Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Will you enter through the Narrow Door?

What keeps You from the Table? Lack of Knowledge? Love of Sin? Pride? Fear of Man? Other?

Enter through the narrow door. John 6: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
