Making Graphs and Understanding Data Grade 1 Math

Where does the information come from? Your group of four students is going to ask a question to the class and then use the answers to make 2 different types of graphs. Your group will pick a question out of a hat to have the class answer. Each of you will go around to each station and answer all five questions.

1.What is your favorite ice cream? vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, chocolate chip or bubble gum 2.What is your favorite animal? cat, dog, bird, horse or fish 3.What is your favorite sport? baseball, football, soccer, basketball or dance 4.What is your favorite season? winter, spring, summer or fall 5.What is your favorite subject in school? reading, writing, math, science or social studies

Then What??????? Your group is going to make a pie graph out of the data you receive. You will present your findings to the class.

Example- Favorite Red Sox Player

Favorite Animal

Favorite Ice Cream

Favorite Color

Favorite Season

Favorite Subject

Now what?? After you have made your graph your group must come up with three things that you learned from this information. Be prepared to go up to the ENO board and present your findings to the class.
