Tape on Connections Robot Design Workshop 2012 Copyright © 2010 BEST Robotics, Inc. All rights reserved. 7 A new rule this year allows Non-Residue painter’s tape on connections

Returnable Kit Top 10  1. Don’t tamper with (i.e., open), modify, or adjust the VEX controller, joystick, servos, batteries, charger, and other components of the Returnable Kit. There is one exception to this rule: servo horns may be modified as desired.  2. Don’t open the motors for any reason.  3. Don’t modify or use glue or adhesive on the pulleys, bearings, and shoulder screw.  4. Don’t modify the belt loop; however, you can modify the belt stock (long piece) as needed.  5. Don’t apply tape or adhesive or glue to any item in the kit. (Residue- free painter’s tape is allowed on connections) Robot Design Workshop 2012 Copyright © 2010 BEST Robotics, Inc. Returnable Kit Top 10  6. Don’t attach the hook and loop (Velcro) to any item in the kit.  7. Don’t put labels or decals on any components other than the 7.2V batteries and charger. Masking tape may be applied to the batteries and charger to label the school name.  8. Its highly recommended that you don’t mount your motors using anything other than the screws and motor mounts provided in the Consumable Kit.  9. Don’t solder wires to the motor terminals. Use the quick-disconnect terminals provided in the Consumable Kit.  10. Don’t use motor ports 1 and 10 on the VEX Cortex controller. Use the external motor controllers provided in the Returnable Kit in ports 2 through 9 for all motors. Robot Design Workshop 2012 Copyright © 2010 BEST Robotics, Inc. All rights reserved. 9

Remember…  The Returnable Kit equipment is the property of Minnesota BEST! The equipment in the kit was purchased with funds from sponsors. The equipment has to last several years, so it is important to take care when using the equipment. However, by nature of the competition, we know the equipment must undergo some degree of wear-and-tear…but please let good sense prevail when using it. Returning the Returnables Kit  You have three options for returning the Returnable’s Kit: 1.Hand over the complete Returnable Kit at the end of competition day. 2.Purchase the returnable kit at a cost of approximately $ (this price is the retail cost of the kit as purchased directly from VEXRobotics.com last year, and does not include software). 3.Keep your robot temporarily for learning and promotional purposes. Understand that it is your responsibility to mail or deliver the complete Returnable Kit to the NLS High School by January 7, Robot Design Workshop 2012 Copyright © 2010 BEST Robotics, Inc.
