University of Tirana

The University of Tirana was founded on 16 September 1957 under the name of State University of Tirana. The State University of Tirana was composed of 6 faculties in which some were previously established institutes. PRESENTATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TIRANA

University of Tirana implemented the Bologna Process in Offers around 60 Bachelor degrees. The duration of Bachelor Degrees is generally 3 years. Master degree programmes. ( Professional and Science). The duration of a Master degree is 1 or 2 years. The “Doctorate” is given after completing the Master.Duration of PhD is 3-5 years. University of Tirana has institutional cooperation with many Universities around the World. There are over 30 agreements with European Universities. Structural organization The structural organization of the University of Tirana with eight faculties creates a close network of vertical cooperation between the rector and the Dean’s office. The rector has the decision making power of deciding the general lines of the University’s development, of appointing the academic and the administrative staff. The University budget The budget of the university is administrated from the administrative Council. 65 per cent comes from the government for the salary and social insurance, the other part comes from the fee of the students and the other services of the faculty. Student recruitment The recruitment of the first course of the bachelor degree is organized according to the students results of State Matura.
