UNDERSTANDING OUR ADULT DAY MEMBERSHIP

The Adult Day Transitional Leadership Council’s Work  How can we raise the profile of Adult Day programs within the larger long ‐ term care community and with the general public?  What tools and resources (e.g. advocacy, regulatory changes, professional development) are needed to enable Adult Day providers to better serve their participants and caregivers?  How do we best integrate Adult Day Services into LeadingAge Minnesota?

ADULT DAY SERVICES “A place where people can come to experience meaningful connection, a sense of belonging and an enhanced quality of life, in a community setting that provides support, recreation and essential health services”

WHO WE SERVE Individuals with identified needs who benefit from:  Health and social services  Social stimulation  Peer support  Health monitoring and functional supports Participants are unable to safely stay home alone for extended periods. Adult Day Programs enable them to engage in meaningful activities throughout the day and return to the place they call home, often to the care of loved ones, in the evening.

WHO WE SERVE Family Caregivers who benefit from:  Respite to participate in work or self-care  Caregiver supports  Assistance navigating long term care options

WHO WE ARE  70%+ are non-profit  88% are licensed by Dept. of Human Services  Average licensed capacity is 33 people  Focus on person-directed services  Programs and population are highly diverse

OUR MEMBERS percent of members offering services

OUR MEMBERS *In most cases this is not a reimbursable service percent of members offering services

ADULT DAY SERVICES Licensure  Licensed by the Department of Human Services  Rule 223, –  Statutes 245A, 245C and  A facility licensed by the Department of Health may operate an Adult Day Program that serves less than 5 individuals without obtaining a separate Adult Day license

FUNDING SOURCES  Private Pay  Waivers  Long Term Care Insurance  Veteran’s Benefits
