Digital Storytelling “Storytelling is the art of using language, vocalization, and/or physical movement and gesture to reveal the elements and images of a story to a specific, live audience” --From members of the National Association of Storytellers

What is Digital Storytelling? Digital storytelling is the purposeful integration of media (images, video, voiceover, soundtrack, transitions, effects, etc.) in order to express a personal or historical story, which can be shared electronically with many viewers. Telling a story through the creative use of technology. Digital Storytelling is a powerful means for expression. Good Storytellers know they have something to share and Digital Storytelling gives them a way to capture the interests of our digital learners

What is Digital Storytelling? Digital storytelling is the technologically advanced version of "old fashioned storytelling. …It includes audio, video, and graphics to communicate the story as opposed to text and illustrations alone. It gives the creator even more freedom for creativity with the availability of various components with which to create a story. Digital storytelling is a way to use digital tools, as a means, to connect content or events. It's goal is to help others have a greater understanding of a topic by using a varied range of text, music, audio narratives and images. Digital storytelling can be used in presentations, stories, or autobiographies. It is beneficial because it can be used anytime, anyplace, enduring, multi media -project based and appeals to public audiences

What is Digital Storytelling? I found a better definition from educators who have put much thought and effort into the field. (I also learned that there are Web sites, courses, conferences, books, and other resources devoted to digital storytelling.) My favorite is that of Daniel Meadows, who defines it as "short, personal multimedia tales told from the heart." Using computer software to tell a story, Digital storytelling incorporates some combination of sounds, images and movies as part of the storytelling process. These stories are often personal in nature, but do not need to be. They can also be linked to curriculum. Using digital tools to tell a story in an engaging manner from a specific point of view
