DR Markets in Finland

DR for consumers

Consumer engagement by Helen Sähköverkko Oy (DSO)

With hourly read smart meters Finland is now learning the full DR potential First stage started to establish a central data hub in Finland Data Hub will be a new possibility to advance with the DR – Information on potential DR and ways to use it could be located in the Data Hub Network based DR, consumers adapting their energy consumption or generation in response to signals given by DSO? Distribution network tariffs capacity-based or volumetric-based to promote DR? According to research, remote demand response feature (a relay) in smart meters has possibility MW load to be used for DR (spot market) – ICT standards to be harmonized to guarantee seamless data flow between smart meter and retailer/aggregator – Another MW load to be used in the intra-day market (Elbas) after ICT can be upgraded to next generation Next steps
