REPORT TO GRPE 65 TH SESSION EVE IWG 1 Electric Vehicles and the Environment (EVE IWG) Informal document No. GRPE (65 th GRPE, January 2012, agenda item 11) Transmitted by EVE

Summary of Meetings EVE IWG 2 EVE Session #2 – Baltimore, Maryland USA (13~ )  Many presentations by experts working on electrified vehicles  Informed the EVE on issues important to electrified vehicles  Initial discussion to focus on the regulatory reference guide as starting point for the EVE.  Reference guide will help identify areas for further research  Serve as the foundation for the final recommendations of the EVE IWG to the GRPE EVE Session #3 – Conference Call and Webex ( )  Proposed a format for the reference guide and a questionnaire which will be used to gather the information required to populate the guide. EVE Session #4 – Geneva ( )  Confirmed the framework and the content of the reference guide as well as the questionnaire.

EVE Strategy: Reference Guide EVE IWG 3 Regulatory reference guide will form the basis for the EVE recommendations to the GRPE.  Through the completion of the guide, potential gaps in the regulatory landscape will be identified.  Recommendations from the EVE will be based on the gaps identified.  Research may be performed to bolster the conclusions of the EVE.  Definitions continue to be point of concern. EVE will use the common definitions from the other IWG’s and VPSD.  Contractor has been identified to assist in the completion of the guide. Pending funding source.

EVE Strategy: Questionnaire EVE IWG 4 Reference guide will be initially populated through the use of a questionnaire.  Stakeholders have been asked to identify an individual(s) to be a point contact for completing the questionnaire.  Commitment from the CP’s is essential for completion of the guide.  EVE will share the questionnaire with the other related IWG’s for input and feedback.  OICA has agree to review the format of the reference guide and the questionnaire, although they are not expected to provide input for the initial draft.
