Contemporary Art is… Contemporary art can be defined variously as art produced at this present point in time or art produced since World War II existing or occurring at the present time 2. living or occurring in the same period 3. modern in style or fashion 4. of approximately the same age

Contemporary Art has… A common concern since the early part of the 20th century is the question of what constitutes art. This concern can be seen running through the "modern" and "postmodern" periods. The concept of avant-garde may come into play in determining what art is taken notice of by galleries, museums, and collectors.modernpostmodernavant-garde

One great contemporary artist is David Hockney, a British artist born in 1937.

Another is Barbara Kruger, born in New Jersey in 1945.

Your assignment will be to… Sketch and design a contemporary 3-D sculpture. Build your sculpture out of wire, cardboard, poster board, tape, and plaster strips. Paint your sculpture to make it aesthetically pleasing. Add found objects or other materials to make it look cool.
