There will be a Division I team and a Division II team. The Division I team is the top team. The coaching staff will continue to evaluate our athletes on a weekly basis to determine if they should be on the DI or DII team. There may be an opportunity to move an athlete up or down based on an individuals needs, grades and improvement level. We give our athletes opportunity to try out at the position they want. Coaches then determine if that position is best for the athlete and the team. If the staff feels that the move could help the team at another position then the athlete will be moved accordingly. According to the LISD Athletic Handbook each athlete will play in every game. However playing time will be determined in practice, games and to the coaches discretion. It is preferred that the athlete contact the coaching staff in regards to needed improvement or more playing time.

If an athlete gets sick or hurt the coaching staff ask that you send a note or about his condition. A doctor’s note is required if the athlete is to miss for an extended period of time.

An athlete that fails a class at the end of each six weeks grading period will become ineligible to play in game competition for three weeks. During this time he is expected to participate in all practices. If at the end of the three week period all grades are passing, he will be allowed to compete on the date specified by the TEA/UIL Eligibility Calendar.

Heat- 100 degrees or a heat index of 110 degrees Football team in full pads will have water breaks every 20 minutes. Each break will be 5 minutes of total rest time with helmets off. Athletes may return when alarm gives 3 horns. Cold Weather- Wind Chill Factor less than 32 degrees. No outside exposure.

 DURING PRACTICE ATHLETES WILL HAVE UNLIMITED ACCESS TO WATER.  PREDETERMINED WATER BREAKS EVERY 20 MINUTES.  THE TIMING AND LENGTH OF BREAKS WILL BE DEPENDENT ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Any student that is injured as the result of participating in middle school sports is covered on a secondary basis by the policy purchased by LISD. Parents must first file on their own insurance. The District ‘s accident policy will only pay after the parent(s) has filed on their own policy and submits proof. If you have any questions please call the District’s Insurance Office at

Team travel will be accomplished in school buses. Parents are allowed to take their son home from a sporting event only if they sign out with a coach. Parents will not be allowed to take home athletes that are not their child. Athletes should maintain proper levels of conduct on the bus.

DEFINITON A person who exhibits qualities highly regarded in sport, such as fairness, generosity, observance of the rules, and good humor when losing. We ask that our athletes and parents exhibit this on the field and in the stands.
