DATA IT Senate Data Governance Charge The Data Governance Committee’s charge is: To identify and resolve data quality issues To provide initial and ongoing review and documentation of data used in business processes, to include data definitions, data dictionaries, data warehouse elements, data security, and business intelligence tools To provide guidance and recommend standards concerning institutional data related to expanding access, improving quality, maintaining consistency, assuring security, and improving business processes and information management To communicate and oversee implementation and training of campus-wide standards for data administration aspects of business processes

Data Governance Organizational Structure Committee Definitions Executive level university officials who provide direction with regard to data stewardship and reporting needs and have the authority to establish strategic planning priorities regarding data systems that impact functional users. Data Trustees Facilitator and coordinator of data governance and stewardship activities; co-chairs the Data Governance Committee and appoints the committee members. Chief Data Governance Officer Committee representing a broad spectrum of data users; responsible for data governance to include the planning, implementing, and managing the sourcing, use, documentation, and maintenance of data assets across the institution. Data Governance Organizational Structure Data Steward Committee Membership Definitions An employee accountable for institutional or personal data within their functional area, including the management and protection of data assets that result in high-quality data that are easily accessible and reportable. Data Steward An employee or agent of the institution who accesses institutional data in performance of their job duties.
