Political background of Stresemann Appointed Chancellor and Foreign Minister of a grand coalition government in 1923S Stresemann remained as Foreign Minister in the government of his successor,Centrist Wilhelm Marx. He remained foreign minister for the rest of his life in eight successive governments ranging from the centre-right to the centre-left. Had many notable achievements as Foreign Minister

Dawes Plan

Objective of Dawes Plan The main points of The Dawes Plan were: The Ruhr area was to be evacuated by Allied occupation troops. Relied on capital lent to Germany by a consortium of American investment banks

Results The plan was accepted by Germany in September Provided short-term economic benefits to the German economy and softened the burdens of war reparations. By stabilizing the currency, it brought increased foreign investments and loans to the German market

Young Plan

Young Plan Program for settlement of German reparations debts after World War I written in 1929 Presented by the committee headed by American Owen D. Young. Aimed to ease the reparations burden imposed by the Treaty of Versailles, further reduced the reparations to $8 billion, or 112 billion German Marks.
