American Expansion What is Manifest Destiny? What is meant by the phrase “White Man’s Burden?” To what extent are they reflected in American Expansion and in the American mindset?

Do you believe in Destiny? Destiny- Something that is to happen. The predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events. Are you destined to do great things? Are you destined to be a great parent? Are you destined to be a loving partner? Are you destined to be a professional? Are you destined to be rich and famous?

What is Divine Providence??? Share your responses to question number # from the reading…. How do you think O’Sullivan would have defined divine providence?

American Expansion: Manifest Destiny You’re ready for step #1- (3 Minutes) Define as a group, manifest destiny… Proceed to step #2- (5 Minutes) According to O’Sullivan’s article, what is America’s Destiny?
