Why Is This Information Important  The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires that each Title I School hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of…  Informing you of our school’s participation in Title I  Explaining the requirements of Title I  Explaining your rights as parents to be involved

What is Title I? Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for…  Providing academic assistance to students via extended day and Saturday School  Purchasing additional staff, materials & supplies  Conducting parental Involvement meetings, trainings, activities  Recruiting, hiring, retaining Highly Qualified Teachers  Parental involvement.

What is our school’s requirements & designation?  Ison Springs is school wide Title 1  All students are eligible to receive support as a part of the funding.

Programs in Place to Support Students  Early Intervention (EIP)  Exceptional Education  Response to Intervention (RTI)  Munch Bunch, Reading Buddies, K9 Readers mentoring/tutorial  Extended Day tutorial  Classroom interventions  Saturday School in March  English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

What is the 1% set-aside and how are parents involved?  Any school receiving a Title I Allocation exceeding $500,000 is required by law to set aside 1% of it’s Title I allocation for parental involvement.  Of that 1%, 5% may be reserved at the district for system-wide initiatives related to parental involvement.  You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved in how this money is spent.  Ison Springs received $277,000 for

What is the Parental Involvement Policy?  This policy addresses how Ison Springs will implement the parental involvement requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of It includes…  Expectations for parents  How Ison Springs will involve parents in decision-making  How Ison Springs will work to build the schools’ and parents’ capacity for strong parental involvement to improve student academic achievement  You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved in the development of this policy.

What’s included in the school’s Parental Involvement Policy?  How parents can be involved in decision-making and activities  How parental involvement funds are being used  How information and training will be provided to parents  How the school will build capacity in parents and staff for strong parental involvement

Research Shows students with involved parents are more likely to:  Earn Higher grades & test scores, & enroll in higher level programs.  Be promoted, pass their classes & earn credits.  Graduate and go on to post-secondary education.  Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.  Attend school regularly.  Kindergarten to College at Ison Springs!

School-Parent Compact  The compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement  You, as a Title I Parent, have the right to be involved in the development of the School-Parent Compact.  Distribution of the Compact.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)  A committee comprised of parents, teachers and community partners who have input on school decision making. For example, the educational compact and the parent involvement policy.  This committee meets a few times per year.

Parents Right To Know  Districts receiving Title I funds are required to notify parents of their rights to request information regarding the qualifications of all teachers and paraprofessionals.
