What do I have to do? Practical tasks are as follows: 2 written compositions (2 – 4 mins combined) 30% 2 Performances – one solo (any instrument / voice) one ensemble (group) 30% One hour listening exam and 30mins extended writing question at the end of the course 40%

What will I learn? We will look at pieces of music covering four areas of study Area of Study 1 – Western Classical Music Area of Study 2 – Music in the 20 th Century Area of Study 3 – Popular Music in Context Area of Study 4 – World Music  We learn to use new music software: Sibelius  We will learn new musical structures  We will listen and learn about many types of music and how it has impacted on the music you listen to today
