You will have a quiz this Friday over these notes Notes on Hand building, and the notes on Greek Art

Viscosity- the stickiness of a paint. How much it resists stirring or being moved around on a surface. The thicker the paint the greater the viscosity.

Paint is made up of three parts- Binder Pigment Solvent

The pigment is what gives the paint its color. It can come from natural sources or from chemicals.

The binder helps the pigment stick together and to stick to the painting surface. Examples would be gum arabic, acrylic resin, egg, linseed oil

Solvent- controls the consistency of the paint and how the paint moves as it is being applied. The solvent, in the paint, evaporates and is not a permanent part of the paint.
