What is a blog? Sue Ann Miller Instructional Technology Coach Berea City School District

What is a blog? Blog is short for weblog. A Web log is an online journal (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as sports or local news; some function more as personal online diaries.

Let’s look at a blog… This blog is written by Will Richardson, author of "Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms”Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms

Let’s look at a blog… Also, note that readers have the ability to leave comments in many blogs. This is an important part of blogs. You can see the format is a list of entries, typically arranged in reverse-chronological order.

Let’s respond to a blog… To leave a comment, you typically you just click on the “Comments“ link at the bottom of the entry. Then enter your name, comment, and hit “Add comment”. You can choose to be notified of followup comments to your posting.
