The Moon!

Man on the Moon! On July 20, 1969, Apollo astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. By the end of 1972, five more Apollo crews had landed there. These six missions resulted in 12 American astronauts exploring and photographing the moon.

Apollo 11 Date: July 20, 1969 Time There: 22 Hours (Earth = 2 hours short of a day) Fact: Neil Armstrong was the first astronaut to set foot on the moon

Apollo 12 Date: November 19, 1969 Time There: 32 Hours (Earth = 1 day and 8 hours) Fact: The crew recovers instruments put on the moon in April of Because of these instruments, the effects of long- term, exposure to the moon’s environment can now be measured.

Apollo 17 Date: December 11, 1972 Time There: 75 Hours (Earth = 3 days and 3 hours) Fact: This is the longest and last Apollo mission to land on the moon.
