The Easter Story

All of Jesus’ friends were sad. He had been crucified on the cross because some people didn’t like Him. After he had died, his friends took him and buried him in a tomb.

After they placed Jesus in the tomb, all his friends took a big stone and rolled it in front of door so that no one could get in. Before He died Jesus had said that he would come back from the grave, so the chief priests and the Pharisees, all the people that wanted Jesus dead, went to Pilate and asked if they could put a guard at his tomb to make sure that no one tries to play a trick on anyone. So they went and made sure that no one could get to the tomb.

A few days later 2 of Jesus’ friends, Mary and Mary Magdalene, went to look at the tomb. As they were approaching the tomb there was a great earthquake, and an angel came down from heaven and rolled the stone away from the front of the tomb. The guards were so scared.

But the angel told the 2 Mary’s not to be afraid. He knew they had come to see Jesus. But Jesus wasn’t there anymore. He has risen, just as He said He would.

The angel told them to go into town and tell everyone that they saw that Jesus wasn’t dead anymore. The 2 Mary’s, headed to his disciples to tell them when all of the sudden Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. “do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” So they continued on to tell the disciples.
