Common Core Standards, EQ/EU’s, SMP Focus & Vocabulary Words  All of these areas are present within the unit planner  Have these elements posted as they are reviewed/introduced to students

Morning Sponge/Problem Solving  Problem of the day would be ideal for this area.  Gotta love this resource! HM Problem of the Day

Opening  +Warm ups  +Calendar Math/Number Talk  +Vocabulary  +Preview  +Activating Activity  Examples:  Mathematical Current Events  Math-Related Classroom Responsibilities  Use of website links in unit planner as a “hook”  Number of the day  “What’s the use?”  Classroom Example

Mini-Lesson  PRIMARILY teacher directed  BRIEF, no more than ten minutes  Could be used at beginning to set the tone and introduce concepts to be explored  Could be used at end to summarize learning that has taken place

Small Group/Guided Math Groups/Math Workshop  Students work independently, in pairs, or in groups  Procedures and routines must be established and practiced  Activities should provide opportunities for exploration or practice of mastered skills  The work need not be related to the work being done in small groups
