What can Parents Do to Help Their Children Learn?

Be Proud of Your Home Language and Culture

Read to your child and with your child In English or your home language Reading gives the child new experiences and vocabulary

Talk with your child

What can we talk about? Talk about what you are doing at home – washing dishes, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, fixing the car, etc. Talk about things you find in the stores Talk about colors, shapes, positional words (in, on, next to, between, in front of) Retell a story Create a story Sing a song, poem or nursery rhyme
