Presentation transcript:

Page1 Indianapolis Zoo – Before the Field Trip When we take our trip to the zoo, I am most looking forward to seeing the dolphins. I think dolphins are so fascinating because they are smart. I am not sure what all of these animals have in common besides living at the zoo. I know that giraffes and elephants both live in warm areas and bears and dolphins both like water but I don’t know what all four animals share.

2 Comparing and Contrasting Bears and Dolphins The bear is different from the dolphin because… it is furry and lives on land. It eats both plants and animals (it is omnivorous). It also hibernates in the winter. The dolphin is different from the bear because…they live in the water all the time. They have smooth bodies and fins. They breathe through the hole on the top of their head. They eat fish. The bear and the dolphin are alike because…they are both mammals that care for their young. They both like water, and they both are playful with their offspring.

Page3 Indianapolis Zoo – After the trip! I learned a lot when we visited the zoo. The animals were beautiful to look at, but I also learned about the habitats and diets of many of the animals. I didn’t know that giraffes liked to eat sweet potatoes! I also learned that the elephants and the dolphins are good mothers. I enjoyed watching them interact with their babies. The babies were so cute!
