Summary  Problem: China annexed Tibet with no justifiable reason and the Chinese are physically harming Tibetans.  Policy: The U.S. should call a UN summit to discuss a way Tibet can gain full independence from China.

Arguments & Evidence  Tibet can regain their basic human rights.  “following a prayer gathering in August 2013 at least 20 people were arrested. This included 72-year-old Yama Tsering, who sustained an arm injury and four broken ribs during the day. He was also tortured with and electric prod during detention” (Torture in Tibet).  Decrease the amount of Tibetan protests, abuse, and overall violence in the Tibetan region, making Asia more peaceful.  From , about 120 Tibetans have set themselves on fire in protest of Chinese rule (They Say We Should Be Greatful).

Arguments & Evidence  An increase in economic prosperity in many nations across the world, including the U.S.  Tibet has many copper and gold deposits. These reserves are worth almost one trillion dollars to China, who is the second leading consumer of gold and largest producer of copper in the world (Introduction to Tibet).
