Revision Assignment 1

P1 Society: improved usability of software, people don’t have to be so specialised to use certain applications, which in turn has an impact on wages – less skilled people can carry output complex jobs. Further impacts: people may have to retrain because the job they were dong has been replaced with a more user friendly HCI focused technology, enabling less skilled, less paid people to do job.

HCI may be so user friendly that a job requiring more than one person to complete may now only require one- unemployment. Positive effect. People with disabilities can make use of this technology therefore become more employable and more able in using every day appliances.

M1 Explain how advances in design has made this HCI technology possible. Applications have become more bespoke to the user. Higher level of usability to e achieved-3D images. Life before graphical user interfaces – CL, DOS. Less people could use them. Vb.net, asp.net allow graphical interactive applications to be created fast, and with relatively little specialised skill.

Aeroplane Pilots Advances in design, virtual and realistic environment enable pilots to be trained without even taking off. Simulator can provide scenario using realistic graphics and physical controls. Without this 3D sophisticated design there could be less trained pilots which would impact on society because air travel might become more expensive therefore stopping people from being so mobile.
