Our Lesson about South Africa! By: Courtney Lourens, Lilly Strickland, Madison Ball.

Countries, Important People, & Important Places Countries: Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, & South Africa. Important People: Nelson Mandela Important Places : Ancient Gtana, Cape town, & Pretoria.

Physical Features & Humans & the Physical Environment. Physical Features: Mountains, Hills & Valleys Humans & the Physical Environment: Two thirds of South African people are Christians the rest of them practice African religions. Most black, Asian, and Mixed Africans live in rual areas, and crowed township or neighborhoods outside of cities. Millions of people throughout Africa have been affected with viruses that cause AIDS. About 43.6 million people live in South Africa. 78% are black. They speak 11 different languages. Some are Afrikaans, English, Zulu, Xhosa, and Dutch. They have to get a job and earn money to survive. They modify their land.

Jobs & Geographical & Natural Resources Jobs: Farmers, Street sweepers, petrol attendant, mining, Aid related people, beach janitors, Sharks board, Wineries, Marine jobs, Suring teachers, Rugby, Cricket, Deep Sea Fishing, Deep sea diving, Parking lot attendant. Geographical & Natural Resources: Large deposits of diamonds and gold. Chromite, Platnium, and Coal.

Culture & Location Christian, other traditional African religions, Black, Asian, White,& Mixed Groups. Curry, meat pies, duraqsooce, buravorce, fresh bread, wide variety of meat, all American foods. Traditional African robes, and American clothes. American music, Traditional African music. They have most of the American holidays and some African holidays. South Africa is on the tip of Africa. It is surrounded by Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. The oceans that surround it are the Indian ocean and the atlantic ocean.

History About 43.6 million people live in South Africa. In the 1600’s, the Dutch settled in South Africa. They were known as the Boers, a Dutch word for for farmers. The German, Belgian, and French settlers them. Together these groups were known as the Afrikaners.
