NEMO Re-chartering IETF 67 – November 9, 2006 T.J. Kniveton

Charter Proposal Update ► The latest charter proposal was posted on the ML one week ago. ► This charter focuses strictly on the deployment scenarios that have been identified ► Tasks include gathering requirements for these scenarios by Apr/May ’07. If these goals are not met, the scenario go away ► Solution specs expected by July/Aug ’07

Goal ► The idea behind these changes is to tighten the scope of the WG to achievable goals, based on existing deployment needs ► We would like to see research problems related to NEMO addressed in the IRTF (possibly MOBOPTS working group)

Scenarios 1. Aviation ► Aviation scenario includes requirements that are presented at this meeting by Terry Davis and/or Will Ivancic ► Problems have been discussed in NEMO before ► T.J. will manage requirements gathering process 2. Automotive ► European and Japanese automakers are running into issues for deploying NEMO in cars ► Thierry will manage requirements gathering process

Open Questions ► Multihoming  A couple of proposals to take Appendix of Multihoming Problem Statement and making a BCP from this  Should this be a working group charter item at this point?  Is there already a document like this in existence? If not, where is it going to come from?

Next Steps ► Integrate comments received in the last week  Mostly minor (except for multihoming), and done ► Submit to ADs and IESG  Immediately following IETF67 ► Begin working towards new goals  Immediately following IETF67
